My son Joe has been working really hard cleaning up the wood piles in our yard betting ready for my mom's new house.
I have been very worried about what "friends" he might find. There are so many snakes this year and I didn't want him to find any copper heads.
Well this is the friend Joe found.
That is the bottom of a wide mouth pint canning jar. The spider still gives me shivers.
Joe took the camera and took the pictures himself. He took the spider outside to take the pictures and brought back an empty jar. I asked him if he squished it and he looked shocked. Of course not. He took it to the woods and let it go.
*shudder*
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you could squish him! He may come running after you. Makes me think of Aragog.
ReplyDeleteI just had a shiver run down my spine.....yuck
ReplyDeleteWhat on earth kind of spider IS that? and where exactly do you live so I can make sure I never go there!! (and I'm not usually afraid of spiders...)
ReplyDeleteThe title "Spider Friends" didn't exactly prepare me for the HORROR you posted in this blog!! I was expecting maybe some cute plush stuffed spider puppets or something!! GIVE A GIRL A LITTLE WARNING NEXT TIME.... like "Spider Friends (warning involves actual photos of actual monsterous spiders)
ReplyDeleteI had an overwhelming urge to throw up! EEKS SPIDERS! Now I'll close the window. THink happy thoughts. Think happy thoughts.
ReplyDeleteLol...we love our spiders here...they eat all the other bugs that come in. I encourage them. Except like redbacks...I do squish them.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Joe. Don't kill anything you don't absolutely have to. I love spiders.
ReplyDeletethis makes me nervous to come there next month!
ReplyDeleteKudos to Joe. I'd have run screaming away and never gone within 10 yards of the wood pile ever again.
ReplyDeleteSpiders do give me the creeps, especially big unpredictable ones, but I am getting much better at catching them and letting them free (typing as I shudder, just a little).
ReplyDeleteYUK! I really don't like spiders, either!! We have a lot of them. I'm always on the lookout when I'm working in the garden.
ReplyDeleteWe've seen a lot of snakes this summer, three copperheads so far! Makes me soooo nervous, we have a very adventurous 2 year old who would want to pick it up. I imagine he'll be bringing me spiders in canning jars in a few years!
